College Costumes

I can already predict my pattern: posting a lot of blogs (a couple a day) at first, and then it'll slowly reduce to once a day, then a couple of times a week....oh well :)

Anyway, so today's Halloween. Obviously. So people dress up around here. There was a lot of fairies, sexy nurses, vampires and various monsters, and drag queens.

Yes, I said drag queens.

I don't know why, but for the two years I've been here, the majority of the male costumes here are drag queens. And its not your typical man in a dress type of costume, it's an all-out stuffed-bra, chunky jewelry, dress, high heels, wig, make-up, fake nails, type of costume.

It's just freaky.

And they could actually pass as a female! Take one, for example. This morning, I saw a woman with a really cute pair of yellow rain boots, jeans, a sparkly top, lots of bangles and chunky jewelry, and a cute afro walk into the Academic Advisor office. I was actually thinking, "Oh, cute outfit! Where could I get a pair of those boots?"...until I noticed that she had a beard. I was actually unsure whether it was a fake beard that was painted on or it was actually real. I had to deliberate for a minute until I saw a friend walk up to him, do a double take, and say "wow, nice costume!"

Those were the scariest costumes people had on today.

laughs and screams and all around fun

So last night The College Sister, The Boyfriend, The Boyfriend's Friend, Goofy, and your dear ol' MotorMouth went to the haunted house on campus. It was hosted by the Campus Activities organization and it was on the old audiological building which is going to be bulldozed down really soon.

Each room in the building was claimed by different organizations so we would go into room by room and get scared (or at least attempt to be scared--some of the rooms were just pathetic). Since it was going to be bulldozed, the organizations were allowed to spray paint the walls, nail things down, and pretty much destruct the room. It was cool.

So it lasted from 7-10 PM so we got into line at 9:15 PM and waited until almost 10:20 to be let in. (They made an exception for us because some of us couldn't make it back the next day so they allowed us to get in late). We finally got in and boy, it was funny and scary.

I went in front because I'm terrified of haunted houses, have been since I was little and was scared out of my mind by a haunted house with a man in an electric chair at Disney World. So they thought it would have been funny if they made me go first. Meanies. Of course, the whole time, I clung onto The Boyfriend's hand. Hope he has regained feeling in his hand by now. And in the very first room, I was already scared. By The Boyfriend's friend who thought it would be funny to grab me and make me scream.

Anyhoo, most of the rooms weren't that scary until two of the last rooms. I kept on being scared because I was waiting for someone to jump out from in front of me, but instead they jumped out from behind and yelled into my ear. The guide who were with us in that room was laughing hysterically at me. And the whole group that was with me as well. Turns out I was the only one who got scared that night.

Soooo, yep, laughs and screams and all-around fun for the group!

So.

So.

My very first blog. Let's see how long I keep this up.

I'm going to be talking about my life here in college. Hopefully, I'll be able to post up semi-regularly. I'm going to be talking about everything I see around me, or at least whenever I have anything to share.

Check back.

Or don't. I don't really care.
